How Pipe Bursting Works

We access your sewer line at two points — typically where it exits your home and where it meets the street. A hydraulic bursting head is pulled through the old pipe, breaking it apart as it goes. A new high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe follows directly behind the bursting head, taking the place of the old pipe.

No full trench. Just two small access pits (3×3 feet). Your driveway, landscaping, and hardscape stay intact.

When Pipe Bursting Is the Right Choice

  • Collapsed sewer line: Clay tile or Orangeburg pipes that have fully caved in
  • Severely crushed pipe: Ground pressure or tree roots collapsed the pipe beyond repair
  • Undersized pipe: Upgrading from a 4-inch to 6-inch line for better flow
  • Multiple breaks: When spot repair won’t solve the problem
  • Root-filled pipe: Roots have destroyed the pipe wall beyond what CIPP lining can fix
